The Turkish Grand Prix is set to return to the Formula 1 world championship calendar starting from 2027.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Presidential Administration of Türkiye has released an official statement regarding the comeback of the prestigious racing event.
According to the statement, the Turkish Grand Prix will be reintegrated into the Formula 1 schedule for a minimum duration of five years. The Presidency's Directorate of Communications emphasized that this decision marks a significant turning point in the history of Turkish motorsport. The iconic Istanbul Park circuit, renowned for its challenging Turn 8, will once again host the world's fastest drivers, reinforcing the city's status as a premier international racing hub.
The return of Formula 1 to Istanbul is expected to significantly boost the city's global profile in both the sporting and cultural spheres. Istanbul Park previously hosted Formula 1 races between 2005 and 2011, and briefly returned during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The circuit is widely regarded by pilots and fans alike as one of the best modern tracks due to its elevation changes and technical layout. This move aligns with Türkiye's broader strategy to attract major international sporting events to stimulate tourism and showcase the country's modern infrastructure.
