Azerbaijan's State Border Service (SBS) has successfully intercepted and seized contraband goods with a total estimated value of 10,912,328 manats as part of ongoing measures to combat illegal trafficking and smuggling activities.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the State Border Service released these figures in a comprehensive operational summary. According to the official statement, the seized items included significant quantities of pharmaceutical drugs, cosmetic products, and tobacco products attempted to be brought into Azerbaijan illegally.

The report further highlighted that during the past month, border guards thwarted two separate attempts to transport narcotics into the country using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). "As a result of measures taken against the illegal circulation of narcotic substances, 298 kilograms 299 grams of drugs and 2,990 units of psychotropic pills were discovered and removed from circulation," the statement noted.

The State Border Service of Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its technical capabilities and surveillance systems along the state borders to prevent cross-border crime. These operations are part of a broader national strategy to secure Azerbaijan's borders, particularly in preventing the use of modern technology like drones for drug trafficking, which has become an increasing challenge for regional security agencies.
