An explosion accompanied by a fire occurred last night at an ammunition depot located near Nizami village in the Goranboy district of Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the incident.
Relevant units from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Defense, in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Goranboy District Executive Authority, immediately initiated necessary and urgent measures to contain the situation. The incident is currently under control.
As a precautionary safety measure, residents in the immediate vicinity were evacuated. Authorities have confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the incident.
The Goranboy district, located in the western part of Azerbaijan, is a region of strategic importance.
