Traffic congestion reported on major Baku roads

Heavy traffic congestion has been reported on several major roads and thoroughfares in Baku. According to the Transport Intellectual Management Center (NİİM), as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, significant delays are currently affecting the flow of vehicles across the capital.

The NİİM has identified the following areas where traffic density is highest:

  • 1. Heydar Aliyev Avenue, auxiliary road, towards the city center;
  • 2. Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, towards the city center;
  • 3. Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street towards the "20 Yanvar" metro station;
  • 4. Ali Mustafayev Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • 5. Baku-Sumgait highway, towards the "20 Yanvar" metro station;
  • 6. Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 Yanvar" metro station towards the city center;
  • 7. Mikayil Mushfig Street, from the "Badamdar" circle towards school-lyceum No. 20;
  • 8. 8 November Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street towards the city center;
  • 9. Koroglu Rahimov Street, from the intersection with Academician Hasan Aliyev Street towards Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
  • 10. Abdulvahab Salamzade Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • 11. 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
  • 12. Airport Highway, towards the "Koroglu" metro station;
  • 13. 1st Gol Kenari road, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • 14. Binagadi highway, towards the "Azadliq Prospekti" metro station.

The Transport Intellectual Management Center (NİİM) is responsible for monitoring and regulating traffic flow in Baku through a network of sensors, cameras, and automated systems. Such congestion is frequently observed during peak hours in the capital as the city continues to modernize its transport infrastructure to accommodate a growing number of private and public vehicles. Authorities advise motorists to consider alternative routes to minimize travel time.
