French police have detained nine individuals in connection with a violent raid and subsequent vandalism at the town hall of the Fresnes commune, located near Paris.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing TASS, that French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced the arrests on his X account. "I congratulate the investigators of the Val-de-Marne department for an excellently conducted investigation," the minister noted in his statement regarding the security operation.

According to official reports, approximately 20 individuals stormed the Fresnes town hall building, where they destroyed furniture in several rooms and caused significant property damage. During the assault, the perpetrators reportedly utilized pyrotechnic devices to facilitate the attack and intimidate staff. The incident occurred amid a period of heightened civil unrest in various French departments, prompting increased security measures across the country.

The commune of Fresnes, situated in the southern suburbs of Paris within the Val-de-Marne department, has been the site of several security challenges in recent months. Such attacks on administrative buildings in France often result in strict legal repercussions, as authorities seek to maintain public order and protect state infrastructure from organized vandalism and civil disobedience.
