President of Finland Alexander Stubb has made a phone call to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Press Service of the President, that the Finnish leader expressed his support and solidarity with Azerbaijan regarding the recent attack by Iran on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the phone call and the support shown by Finland. During the conversation, the heads of state recalled their previous meetings with satisfaction and discussed the ongoing development of bilateral relations between the two nations. The presidents also exchanged views on the prospects for future cooperation and other matters of mutual interest.

The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an exclave of Azerbaijan, holds strategic importance in the region. Relations between Azerbaijan and Finland have historically been based on mutual respect and cooperation within international organizations. This high-level contact underscores the strengthening diplomatic ties between Baku and Helsinki, particularly in the context of regional security and stability in the South Caucasus.
