Filippo Lombardi, the former President of the Council of States (Senate) of the Federal Parliament of the Swiss Confederation, has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the letter emphasizes that this award is a testament to the President's leadership. "This prestigious award is a clear indicator of your wise leadership and your determination to choose the path of peace instead of confrontation. In a period often characterized by serious tensions, your efforts to prioritize future issues rather than the past carry important moral and political significance," Lombardi stated. He also recalled his 2013 official visit to Baku, noting that the principles of dialogue discussed then remain central to Azerbaijan's regional and international activities today. Lombardi further highlighted that the historic progress toward a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia proves that true strength lies in diplomacy and reconciliation.
