Following a powerful earthquake in the Philippines, the Japanese government has issued evacuation orders for residents across 10 prefectures along the country's southern coast.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from the NHK television network and the Japan Meteorological Agency, the situation remains critical. Authorities have ordered the evacuation of approximately 95,000 households, affecting more than 180,000 people.

Tsunami warnings have been issued for the Kanto region, the Izu and Ogasawara islands, the Tokay region, as well as the Wakayama and Kochi prefectures. Emergency services are currently coordinating with local municipalities to ensure the safe relocation of residents to higher ground.

The seismic activity was triggered by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the southern Philippines, resulting in at least 12 confirmed fatalities. The Pacific Ring of Fire, where both Japan and the Philippines are located, is known for its high level of tectonic activity, making these nations particularly vulnerable to frequent earthquakes and subsequent tsunami threats.
