The European Commission has allocated 113 million euros to enhance the protection of energy infrastructure in Poland and the Baltic states.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Politico, that the funding is specifically designated to bolster the physical and digital security of critical energy assets in the region. The financial package will be distributed among four countries—Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania—to address emerging security threats.

According to official statements from the recipient nations, the EU funds will be supplemented by national budget allocations to ensure comprehensive coverage. The primary focus of the investment will be the procurement of advanced surveillance equipment for power plants and the development and deployment of sophisticated anti-drone systems designed to neutralize aerial threats to energy grids.

This initiative comes amid heightened regional concerns regarding the vulnerability of critical infrastructure. The Baltic states and Poland have been working toward synchronizing their electricity grids with the Continental European Network to reduce energy dependence on external sources. This latest financial support from the European Commission underscores the strategic importance of securing energy corridors and ensuring the resilience of the European Union's eastern flank against hybrid threats and technical disruptions.
