The Armenian government has officially approved a decision to establish the position of a military attaché at its diplomatic mission in Poland. This move marks a strategic step in deepening bilateral defense ties between the two nations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the decision was formalized during the latest session of the Cabinet of Ministers. The government's explanatory note accompanying the decision states that the creation of this new post is primarily aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, with a specific focus on enhancing military-technical cooperation.
The appointment of a military attaché is expected to bring a more systematic approach to defense-related interactions between Yerevan and Warsaw. It is anticipated that the official will be appointed by the end of the year, with the new attaché scheduled to assume duties on January 1, 2025.
Poland, as a member of the European Union and NATO, has increasingly sought to diversify its defense partnerships in the South Caucasus region. For Armenia, establishing such a diplomatic-military link is part of a broader effort to modernize its defense sector and align its security cooperation with European standards, following recent shifts in its foreign policy orientation.
