Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has described his bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, as productive and held in a sincere atmosphere.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the RIA Novosti agency, one of the primary topics of discussion was the ongoing situation in Ukraine. President Erdogan highly valued the dialogue held between the two leaders.
In his statement regarding the meeting, the Turkish leader noted: "We held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Putin. During this meeting, we had the opportunity to discuss the events in Ukraine in particular, and it was a very productive discussion. The meeting took place in a very sincere atmosphere."
During the discussions, Erdogan emphasized Turkey's readiness to continue its mediation efforts aimed at establishing peace in Ukraine. Ankara has reiterated its intention to contribute to a diplomatic resolution of the conflict.
It should be noted that the Erdogan-Putin meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan, also covered broader issues of regional security and the current international agenda. Turkey has consistently positioned itself as a key mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, leveraging its unique geopolitical stance to maintain communication channels with both Moscow and Kyiv.
