Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit of Heads of State held in Bishkek, where he outlined Turkey's position on regional and global issues.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Erdogan stated in his speech that Turkey attaches great importance to the resolution of conflicts in the surrounding regions through diplomatic channels.
The Turkish leader noted that Ankara demonstrates a responsible stance to ensure global peace and stability. "We take responsibility for achieving diplomatic solutions to the conflicts occurring around us, and we continue our activities for the sake of peace and stability," he emphasized.
Erdogan stated that the SCO could make significant contributions to the welfare of nations in strategic areas, including energy security. Describing the organization as a "rising star," he stressed the importance of deepening cooperation in all directions.
During his speech, Erdogan also touched upon the situation in Gaza, recalling that thousands of people have died in Gaza and Jordan due to Israeli attacks, and emphasized that this tragedy should not be forgotten.
The Turkish President also announced that Turkey will host the COP31 summit in Antalya in November 2026 and expressed that they would be pleased to see partner countries at the event.
In conclusion, Erdogan congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2027-2028 term and wished success to Pakistan, which has assumed the chairmanship of the SCO.
