Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has commended the efforts of Azerbaijan and six other regional nations aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region.

The minister emphasized that the role played by these countries in encouraging dialogue and bringing Tehran and Washington to the negotiating table is invaluable. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the IRNA agency, Araghchi noted that Iran is engaged in intensive consultations with neighboring states that have extended a helping hand through their own initiatives. Highlighting the "telephone diplomacy" between President Masoud Pezeshkian and the leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Egypt, Araghchi stated:

“We highly respect the goodwill and sincere efforts of the regional countries. Their role is highly effective in lowering the temperature of tension, preventing extreme steps, and involving the parties in dialogue. The support of regional states for the negotiation process is a positive development, and we will continue our consultations with them.”

This diplomatic push comes as Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its role as a key mediator and a platform for regional stability. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has consistently advocated for peaceful resolutions to regional conflicts and has hosted numerous high-level international discussions in Baku. The involvement of regional powers in the Tehran-Washington dialogue is seen as a strategic move by the Pezeshkian administration to ensure the sustainability of any potential agreements with the administration of US President Donald Trump. Araghchi also confirmed that official Tehran remains in constant contact with its strategic partners, China and Russia, to keep them informed of the details and progress of the ongoing negotiations.
