Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed a new decree amending the "Requirements for Energy Management Systems," originally approved on August 17, 2022, and the "Rules and Criteria for Assessing Efficiency Potential in Electricity and Heat Production and Natural Gas Processing," approved on April 18, 2023.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these amendments are designed to modernize the oversight of energy efficiency standards across the country.

Under the new regulations, economic entities are now required to submit certification data not only to the Ministry of Energy but also to the Energy Efficiency Information System (EEIS). Furthermore, annual reports detailing the energy management systems implemented by these entities, along with the results achieved, must be submitted to the EEIS by the end of January following each reporting year, upon request.

Additionally, the assessment of efficiency potential will now be conducted through the EEIS. Economic entities are mandated to submit relevant reports to the ministry either in writing or electronically via the system. The results of these assessments will be made available to the respective entities within five business days through their personal electronic cabinets within the EEIS.

These regulatory updates are part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to enhance energy security and promote sustainable resource management. By digitizing reporting procedures through the EEIS, the government aims to improve transparency, data accuracy, and the overall efficiency of the national energy sector, aligning it with international best practices for industrial energy consumption.
