Mount Elbrus, located in the Caucasus Mountains, is widely recognized as the highest peak in Europe, reaching an elevation of 5,642 meters above sea level. Due to its extreme altitude, unpredictable weather conditions, and challenging terrain, the mountain attracts mountaineers from around the world but remains a site of frequent high-altitude rescue operations and, occasionally, fatal accidents.
