US President Donald Trump has addressed the issue of releasing a portion of frozen funds within the framework of sanctions imposed on Iran.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Trump stated that the financial resources in question are not being placed directly at the disposal of the Iranian government.
The US President emphasized that these funds are being held in special escrow accounts. Under this mechanism, the use of the funds is strictly limited to pre-determined purposes.
According to President Trump, the released funds can only be utilized for the purchase of US-produced food products and medical supplies. The US administration has further underscored that strict oversight mechanisms will be implemented to ensure the funds are spent exclusively for their designated humanitarian purposes.
The issue of frozen Iranian assets has long been a complex subject in international diplomacy and US-Iran relations. Escrow accounts are frequently utilized in international sanctions regimes to allow for humanitarian trade while preventing the direct transfer of liquid capital to sanctioned entities, thereby ensuring compliance with US foreign policy objectives.
