Intermittent thunderstorms and rainfall are currently affecting several mountainous and foothill regions of Azerbaijan, with some areas experiencing heavy downpours.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this update is based on data provided by the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 11:00 a.m. on August 11.
According to official data, precipitation levels were recorded at 11 mm in Shahbuz, 6 mm in Ganja, 5 mm in Dashkasan, 3 mm in Kalbajar, and 2 mm in Sharur. Rainfall of 1 mm was also registered in Sabirabad, Altiagac, Gusar, Zagatala, Khaltan (Guba), Julfa, Shusha, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Gadabay, Gakh, Kishchay (Sheki), Yevlax, Lerik, Jojug Marjanli, Goranboy, Goygol, and Nakhchivan.
On August 10, gusty westerly winds were observed in several regions, with maximum wind speeds reaching 20 m/s in Naftalan and 19 m/s in Julfa.
The National Hydrometeorological Service continues to monitor the atmospheric instability across the country. Such weather patterns are characteristic of the summer season in Azerbaijan's mountainous zones, where rapid changes in atmospheric pressure often lead to localized, intense precipitation and sudden wind gusts.
