On March 20, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, to discuss the strengthening of strategic ties and pressing regional concerns.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported that the diplomats reviewed cooperation issues arising from the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. A significant portion of the call was dedicated to the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East. Both ministers expressed deep concern over the rising tensions, emphasizing that military escalation poses a serious threat not only to regional security but also to global stability. They underscored the vital importance of increasing international efforts to restore peace and establish lasting stability in the region.
During the conversation, the ministers also exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and the Novruz holiday. They expressed their best wishes for the prosperity of their respective nations and emphasized the continued strengthening of unity and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The discussion concluded with an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan share deep historical, cultural, and linguistic ties, which have evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership in recent years. Both nations frequently coordinate their positions within international organizations, including the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the United Nations, focusing on regional connectivity, trade, and energy security.
