Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Lithuania, Kestutis Budris.
This was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and future development prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania. Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining political dialogue and further expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The discussion also highlighted the significance of developing partnerships within multilateral platforms. Kestutis Budris provided information regarding Lithuania's preparations for its presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027. In the context of Azerbaijan-European Union relations, the ministers exchanged views on potential efforts and collaboration during Lithuania's upcoming presidency.
Furthermore, the ministers addressed regional security issues, the current situation in the South Caucasus, and ongoing efforts to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region. They also touched upon other international matters of mutual interest.
Lithuania and Azerbaijan have maintained diplomatic relations since the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence, with both nations actively engaging in political, economic, and cultural cooperation. The South Caucasus region remains a focal point for European diplomacy, with Azerbaijan playing a critical role in energy security and regional connectivity, often coordinating with EU member states to foster stability and economic integration.
