Israel-Azerbaijan relations are developing in a positive direction year by year and these ties are of a strategic nature.

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov made the statement during a joint press briefing with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar in Baku, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.

The minister noted that regular political consultations, strategic dialogues, and inter-parliamentary friendship groups between the two countries play a vital role in the development of bilateral relations. During the meeting, the sides held detailed discussions on the current state of economic cooperation, ongoing projects, and new opportunities. According to the minister, 124 Israeli companies are currently actively implementing projects across various sectors in Azerbaijan.

Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that 2025 is a landmark year for Azerbaijan-Israel economic cooperation. Notably, SOCAR has acquired a 10 percent stake in Israel's largest gas fields for the first time. This step is of great importance in terms of regional and international gas supply.

The Foreign Minister also touched upon the activities of Israeli businessmen in Azerbaijan, cooperation opportunities within the Alat Free Economic Zone, and the increasing dynamics in the tourism sector. It was reported that during the first 11 months of 2025, the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan from Israel more than doubled compared to 2024.

The minister stated that Azerbaijan supports a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and noted that they brought the importance of a sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to the attention of the Israeli side.

Furthermore, Jeyhun Bayramov informed his Israeli counterpart about the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, the current situation in the South Caucasus, and the historic meeting held in Washington involving US President Donald Trump. He added that an exchange of views took place regarding the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories, the return of former internally displaced persons, and the landmine threat.

Azerbaijan and Israel have maintained strong diplomatic and economic ties since Azerbaijan's independence in 1991. The partnership is characterized by deep cooperation in energy, defense, and technology. Azerbaijan remains one of the primary suppliers of oil to Israel, while Israeli technology contributes significantly to Azerbaijan's agricultural and security sectors. The opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tel Aviv in 2023 further solidified these strategic bonds.
