A rescue operation involving drone surveillance successfully recovered two pilots after a US AH-64 Apache attack helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the rescue mission lasted for two hours.
"The helicopter was conducting a routine patrol in regional waters when the incident occurred. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation," the command stated.
US President Donald Trump previously announced that the United States would release a formal report regarding the June 10 helicopter crash.
The AH-64 Apache is a primary attack helicopter used by the US Army, known for its advanced sensor systems and heavy armament. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical maritime chokepoint for global energy supplies, where the US maintains a significant naval and aerial presence to ensure freedom of navigation and regional security.
