A new project in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics was unveiled at the "AI for Good Global Summit" held in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the humanoid robot, developed by the startup "RB Labs" and dubbed "Robert the Robot," has garnered attention for its unique ability to project the faces of various well-known figures.
Unlike traditional humanoid robots with fixed facial features, this device utilizes a digital screen integrated into its facial area. This technology allows the robot to project the likenesses of prominent individuals, including former US President Barack Obama, US President Donald Trump, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The technology enables the robot to express a range of emotions, smile, and engage in non-verbal communication with users. Robin Krambroeckers, co-founder of RB Labs, stated that the primary goal of the project is to create emotional robots capable of more natural human interaction, emphasizing that non-verbal signals play a critical role in communication processes.
The "AI for Good Global Summit" is a prominent international event organized by the United Nations, focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence to advance sustainable development goals. The summit serves as a platform for global experts, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the ethical implications and practical applications of AI in addressing global challenges.
Other robotic technologies were also showcased during the summit. Researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) presented a concept of robotic furniture designed for the elderly and individuals with mobility impairments. These units, mounted on mobile platforms, can move autonomously, adjust their positions based on user commands, and navigate obstacles within a room.
