QMİ Ramazan bayramı haqqında fətva verdi: Tarix açıqlandı

The Caucasus Muslims Office has issued an official fatwa determining the exact date of Ramadan holiday and the amount of fitra zakat for this year.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the decision is based on data provided by the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasiraddin Tusi of the Ministry of Science and Education. Additionally, the joint decision of the Fatwa Council operating under the Organization of Turkic States (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan) was taken into account.

According to the adopted Fatwa, the 1st of the month of Shawwal, which marks the Ramadan holiday, falls on March 20 according to the Gregorian calendar. The document also specifies the timing for fitra zakat, a mandatory act of charity during the holy month. According to the regulations, this should be paid after the evening prayer on the last day of Ramadan—the eve of the holiday.

Based on the Fatwa of the Council of Qadis, it is recommended that every person with the financial means provide 10-15 manats in fitra zakat per person. According to Sharia, fitra is considered a tithe for the soul, and it is mandatory for every capable Muslim to provide this for each family member to assist those in need, ensuring that every household can experience the festive spirit of the holiday.

Ramadan is one of the most significant months in the Islamic calendar, observed by millions in Azerbaijan and around the world as a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection. In Azerbaijan, the holiday is celebrated at the state level, reflecting the country's commitment to its national and spiritual values. The synchronization of the holiday date with other member states of the Organization of Turkic States highlights the growing cultural and religious cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations.
