Most regions of Azerbaijan experienced dry weather; however, short-term heavy rains accompanied by lightning were observed in some mountainous and foothill areas during the evening and night hours.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this data was provided by the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 10:00 on August 27.
Precipitation levels reached up to 2 mm in Saribash (Gakh) and Gadabay. Rainfall of up to 1 mm was recorded in Kalbajar, Lachin, Qubadli, Shusha, Khankendi, Mingachevir, Zaqatala, Goranboy, Shahdag, Sheki, Oghuz, Shamkir, and Sharur.
North-westerly winds were reported in several locations. Maximum wind speeds reached 22 m/s in Julfa, 19 m/s in Goranboy, 18 m/s in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in Naftalan, and 16 m/s in Tartar.
Fog was observed in Qusar, Goygol, Khankendi, Shahbuz, and Lerik. Maximum temperatures reached 31°C in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, up to 39°C in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and lowland regions, and 28°C in mountainous areas.
The National Hydrometeorological Service regularly monitors these weather patterns to provide timely updates to the public. Such fluctuations in weather, particularly during the summer season, are typical for the diverse climatic zones of Azerbaijan, where mountainous regions often experience rapid changes compared to the coastal areas of the Caspian Sea.
