A delegation led by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev, conducted a working visit to Manama, Bahrain, from January 24 to 26 at the invitation of the Prosecutor General of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain.
The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office informed Operative Information Center-OMM that during a meeting held at the Bahrain State Prosecution Office, Kamran Aliyev described the Kingdom of Bahrain as a friendly and partner country for Azerbaijan. He emphasized that Bahrain has consistently supported Azerbaijan's political initiatives on various international platforms for many years, particularly regarding its territorial integrity. It was noted that bilateral relations have strengthened further in recent years due to the political will of the heads of state.
The Prosecutor General of Bahrain, Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain, expressed satisfaction with the development of inter-agency cooperation and shared positive impressions from his previous visits to Azerbaijan. The sides discussed the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the prosecution authorities of the two countries in October 2024. The discussions focused on combating various types of crime, extradition, mutual legal assistance in criminal cases, and expanding legal and institutional cooperation within bilateral and international frameworks. Opinions were also exchanged on organizing mutual training visits and experience sharing.
The delegation also met with the Chairman of the Court of Cassation and Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, and the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, Nawaf bin Mohamed Al Maawda. The meetings highlighted the importance of sustainable and effective cooperation between the legal systems and explored expanding the legal framework for inter-agency collaboration. This visit underscores the growing diplomatic and judicial ties between Baku and Manama, reflecting Azerbaijan's strategic interest in deepening partnerships with Gulf nations to enhance international legal cooperation and security.
