Heavy traffic congestion has been reported on several major roads and avenues in the capital, affecting the morning commute for thousands of residents.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to the Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC), significant vehicle density is currently observed at the following locations:
- Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
- Mikayil Mushfiq Street, from the "Badamdar" circle toward School-Lyceum No. 20;
- Ali Mustafayev Street, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Abdulvahab Salamzade Street, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street toward the "20 January" metro station;
- Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadlig Avenue;
- 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
- Yusif Safarov Street, in the direction of the city center;
- Heydar Aliyev Avenue (main road), in the direction of the city center;
- Heydar Aliyev Avenue (auxiliary road), in the direction of the city center;
- 1st Gol Kanari road, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station toward the city center;
- Rashid Behbudov Street, in the direction of the Central Bank;
- Koroghlu Rahimov Street, from the intersection with Academician Hasan Aliyev Street toward Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
- Fuzuli Street, from the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street to the intersection with Samad Vurghun Street;
- Binagadi highway, in the direction of the "Azadlig Avenue" metro station;
- Khatai Avenue, in the direction of Heydar Aliyev Avenue.
Traffic management in Baku is overseen by the Intelligent Transport Management Center, which utilizes a network of cameras and sensors to monitor flow and optimize signal timings. Such congestion is typical during peak hours in the capital of Azerbaijan, as the city continues to expand its infrastructure to accommodate increasing vehicular volume. Authorities advise drivers to use alternative routes where possible to avoid delays.
