Worker arrested for theft of gold worth 10,000 manats in Baku

A construction worker has been arrested in Baku on charges of stealing gold jewelry valued at 10,000 manats from a residence where he was employed to perform repairs.

According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the incident occurred in the Surakhani district of the capital.

The investigation began after a local resident filed a formal complaint with the police, reporting the theft of valuable gold items from their home. Following the report, police officers launched an immediate investigation to identify the perpetrator.

As a result of the operational measures taken by law enforcement, the suspect, identified as 42-year-old V. Mammadov, was detained. Authorities confirmed that the suspect, who had a prior criminal record, committed the theft while working as a repairman at the victim's residence. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing.

Theft and property crimes remain a primary focus for the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Azerbaijan, which frequently conducts preventive operations to ensure public safety and protect private property rights across the country. Such incidents highlight the importance of security measures when hiring contractors for home renovations.
