A moped driver has been arrested in Baku for engaging in reckless driving, an act locally referred to as "avtoxuliqanlıq" (auto-hooliganism), which poses a significant threat to public safety.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reported that the Baku City State Traffic Police Department took action following reports of dangerous behavior on the capital's roads.
According to official statements, police officers identified and detained 23-year-old Famil Aghayev in the Khatai district. Authorities stated that the driver had committed gross violations of traffic regulations, creating a real danger to his own life and the safety of other road users.
A protocol was drawn up against the driver under the relevant articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Azerbaijan and submitted to the appropriate court. By court decision, F. Aghayev has been sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention, and his right to operate a vehicle has been suspended for one year.
This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by the Baku State Traffic Police to enhance road safety in the capital. In recent years, Azerbaijani authorities have intensified enforcement against reckless driving, particularly involving mopeds and scooters, which have become increasingly popular but are frequently operated in violation of traffic laws, leading to stricter monitoring and administrative penalties to curb such dangerous conduct.
