The Main Drug Enforcement Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has successfully intercepted a large shipment of narcotics during a special operation in Baku, preventing the illegal distribution of a significant quantity of drugs.

According to information provided by the Operative Information Center-OMM via the MIA, 28-year-old Ismayil Muradov and 32-year-old Chingiz Guliyev were detained as suspects during the operation. Upon inspection, officers discovered and seized 21 kilograms of marijuana enriched with various harmful additives.

Investigations revealed that the detainees had entered into a criminal conspiracy with an Iranian citizen, whose identity is currently being clarified by investigators. The suspects planned to distribute the narcotics to pre-arranged locations across the capital for sale. A criminal case has been initiated, and by court order, both Ismayil Muradov and Chingiz Guliyev have been remanded in custody. Investigative and operational measures are ongoing.

Azerbaijan continues to intensify its efforts against international drug trafficking, particularly along the southern borders. The Ministry of Internal Affairs frequently conducts targeted operations to dismantle supply chains originating from abroad, aiming to protect public health and national security. These efforts are part of a broader state strategy to combat organized crime and the illicit transit of narcotics through the region.
