In May, the Baku International Sea Trade Port handled over 812,000 tons of cargo, marking a significant uptick in operational activity. This performance reflects the ongoing expansion of logistics capabilities within the region.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited data from Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, this figure represents an 11 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, from January to May, the port processed over 50,000 TEU containers, a 9 percent growth compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.

The Baku International Sea Trade Port serves as a critical node in the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), which connects Asia and Europe. By enhancing its infrastructure and throughput capacity, the port plays a vital role in strengthening Azerbaijan's position as a key transit and logistics hub, facilitating trade flows between East and West.
