The development of international transport routes is highlighted as a key factor for both economic growth and regional stability.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his speech at the official opening ceremony of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line.

The Prime Minister noted that Georgia continues to develop its strategic infrastructure based on this vision, with the goal of transforming the country into a reliable transit hub connecting Europe and Asia.

According to him, projects such as the construction of the Anaklia deep-sea port, the expansion and modernization of international airports, as well as the renewal of road and railway networks are currently being implemented in this direction.

Kobakhidze stated that these infrastructure projects enhance Georgia's logistics and transport capabilities in the region and further strengthen the country's strategic position.

He emphasized that Georgia's cooperation with Azerbaijan, Turkey, and other partners in Central Asia plays a crucial role in the development of international transport routes.

The Prime Minister noted that these projects are the result of joint cooperation and expressed his gratitude to all partners. "I congratulate you on the full commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and wish our countries greater success and development," Kobakhidze said in his address.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, often referred to as the "Iron Silk Road," serves as a vital link in the Middle Corridor, a trade route connecting China and Europe via the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. By bypassing traditional northern routes, this corridor significantly reduces transit times and enhances the geopolitical and economic connectivity of the South Caucasus region.
