The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, has paid an official visit to the Slovak Republic at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Slovakia, Robert Kalinak.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, an official welcoming ceremony was held in Bratislava, where Colonel General Zakir Hasanov passed through a guard of honor. During the subsequent meeting, the sides exchanged detailed views on the current state of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, emphasizing the significance of high-level mutual visits in strengthening bilateral ties. The ministers also discussed the prospects for developing military and military-technical cooperation, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM.

The visit underscores the growing strategic partnership between Baku and Bratislava, which has intensified following the signing of a joint declaration on strategic partnership earlier this year. This cooperation aligns with Azerbaijan's broader defense strategy to modernize its armed forces and expand technical collaboration with European partners. Slovakia, as a member of both NATO and the European Union, serves as an important partner for Azerbaijan in Central Europe, particularly in areas concerning defense industry innovation and regional security dialogue. Following the discussions and a mutual exchange of gifts, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov signed the "Book of Honor" to commemorate the visit.
