Since the beginning of the year, the population of Azerbaijan has increased by 9,287 people, or 0.1%, reaching 10 million 271 thousand 638 people as of June 1, 2026.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this data was released by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the latest demographic breakdown, 54.3% of the country's population resides in urban areas, while 45.7% live in rural regions. The gender distribution remains balanced, with men accounting for 49.8% and women for 50.2% of the total population.
The State Statistical Committee regularly monitors these demographic shifts to assist in national planning and policy development. Population growth in Azerbaijan is influenced by a combination of natural increase—the difference between birth and death rates—and migration patterns, which are critical indicators for the government's socio-economic development strategies.
