The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan has categorically rejected claims published on the CNN World website, which alleged that Azerbaijani territory is being used for military or intelligence operations against Iran, or that Israeli forces are stationed within the country. The Ministry dismissed these assertions as completely baseless.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that MFA spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada commented on the matter, emphasizing that such claims have been repeatedly refuted by the Azerbaijani side.
Hajizada noted that the official position of Azerbaijan was provided to the news outlet in response to their inquiry prior to the article's publication. He stated: "The dissemination of claims based on anonymous sources, without presenting any credible evidence and disregarding Azerbaijan's official position, contradicts the principles of objectivity, impartiality, and professional journalistic ethics."
The MFA representative further added: "As stated on numerous occasions, there is no basis for allegations that Azerbaijani territory is being used for military operations, intelligence activities, or other hostile purposes against any third state. Our country has never permitted and will never permit such activities."
"Azerbaijan remains committed to promoting peace, stability, and good-neighborly relations in the region. These unfounded allegations, lacking any supporting evidence, represent yet another attempt at spreading disinformation. We expect CNN to retract this article containing baseless claims," the statement concluded.
Azerbaijan maintains a foreign policy based on the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states. The country consistently emphasizes its commitment to regional stability and has frequently addressed international media reports that attempt to link its territory to geopolitical tensions involving neighboring nations.
