Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan exchange bilateral cooperation documents

On July 31, a ceremony was held to exchange documents signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and President Sadyr Japarov.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the heads of state signed the "Decision of the Third Meeting of the Interstate Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic" and the "Treaty on Alliance Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic."

A wide range of agreements were exchanged, covering sectors from economy and energy to urban development and security:

  • Economic Cooperation: The "Second Supplementary Agreement on Amendments to the Agreement on the Establishment of the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund" was exchanged by Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Choroyev.
  • Transport and Logistics: Agreements on international road transport, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in cargo transportation, shipping, and shipbuilding, were exchanged by Azerbaijan's Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev and Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Transport and Communications Tilek Tekebaev.
  • Energy Sector: Memorandums of Understanding on the supply of oil products and a Roadmap for cooperation in the energy sector for 2026-2028 were exchanged by Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov and Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev.
  • Security and Statistics: Memorandums on cybersecurity cooperation and statistical collaboration were exchanged, alongside agreements on financial market regulation.
  • Inter-city Ties: Memorandums were exchanged to establish sister-city relations between Shusha and Cholpon-Ata, Gabala and Karakol, and Ganja and Osh.
  • Mining: A memorandum of cooperation was exchanged between AzerGold CJSC and Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC.

The strengthening of these bilateral ties underscores the growing strategic partnership between Baku and Bishkek. These agreements, spanning diverse fields such as energy, transport, and inter-city cooperation, are designed to deepen economic integration and cultural exchange between the two nations, further solidifying the alliance established by the leadership of both countries.
