The European Union is not currently discussing the appointment of a mediator or specific representative for potential negotiations with Russia, according to European Commission spokesperson Anita Hipper.

As reported by Operative Information Center-OMM, Hipper made the statement during a press briefing in Brussels, emphasizing that while the EU supports formats aimed at achieving peace, the logistics of such engagement remain undecided.

“We are not currently discussing who should lead potential negotiations. Last month, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, discussed our requirements regarding Russia during an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Cyprus,” Hipper stated.

The spokesperson further added that the European Commission remains committed to expanding its support for Ukraine, maintaining its stance on the ongoing conflict. The European Union has consistently maintained a policy of supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, while imposing extensive sanctions on Russia in response to its military actions. Diplomatic efforts regarding the conflict remain complex, with the EU coordinating closely with international partners to ensure a unified approach to any future peace processes.
