The condition of individuals injured during drone attacks launched from the territory of Iran remains stable, according to medical officials in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing AZERTAC, that Sahib Abuzarov, head of the Emergency Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Hospital, provided updates on the victims' status to regional correspondents.
"Four people were admitted to the emergency department following the drone attacks. Two individuals were diagnosed with barotrauma, while two others sustained blunt force trauma to the back area. Initial medical assistance has been provided; their conditions are stable, and they have been placed in relevant departments for further treatment," Abuzarov stated.
The strikes occurred on Monday afternoon when drones launched from the Islamic Republic of Iran entered Azerbaijani airspace. One drone struck the terminal building of the Nakhchivan International Airport, while another landed near a school building in the village of Shekarabad. The attacks caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure in the region.
Nakhchivan, an exclave of the Republic of Azerbaijan, shares a long border with Iran to the south and west. This incident marks a serious escalation in regional tensions. Azerbaijani authorities have consistently emphasized the importance of regional security and the protection of its sovereign borders, particularly in the liberated territories and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
