DAVOS – President Ilham Aliyev has stated that international institutions can no longer be relied upon, emphasizing that the current global situation is more complex than ever before. The head of state made these remarks during a panel discussion titled "Defining Eurasia's Economic Identity" held as part of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the significance of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. "In August 2025, just two years after the serious military clashes of September 2023, the Prime Minister of Armenia and I signed a declaration and initialed a peace treaty in the presence of US President Donald Trump," the President stated. He noted that US President Donald Trump signed the document as a witness, effectively ending the conflict in the "world's number one office." The President emphasized that this shift necessitates a move away from reliance on international institutions that have failed to maintain global order.

The World Economic Forum in Davos is a premier global platform where heads of state, business leaders, and international organizations gather to discuss pressing economic and geopolitical challenges. President Aliyev's participation underscores Azerbaijan's strategic importance in Eurasian connectivity and regional stability. During the session, the President also referenced Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's assessment of the world's complexity, noting that while multilateralism is failing and protectionism is on the rise, success remains possible for nations that remain dedicated to their national interests and the future of their citizens.
