A group of 12 people, comprising two families, has been relocated to the village of Ashaghi Oratagh in the Aghdara district. This latest phase of the resettlement process marks another step in the ongoing efforts to restore civilian life in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
The information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the public relations department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts.
During the welcoming ceremony, the keys to their new homes were presented to the residents by Sabuhi Gahramanov, Deputy Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, and Mahmud Afandiyev, Deputy Director of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts.
As part of the resettlement protocol, representatives from the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) conducted a safety awareness session for the returning families. Residents were briefed on the dangers posed by mines and unexploded ordnance, provided with guidance on safety protocols in potentially risky areas, and instructed on the necessary steps to take if suspicious objects are encountered.
The resettlement of former residents to the liberated territories is a cornerstone of the 'Great Return' program, a strategic initiative aimed at rebuilding infrastructure, restoring local economies, and ensuring the safe and dignified return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes in the Garabagh and East Zangezur economic regions. This initiative follows the successful restoration of sovereignty over these areas, with significant state investment directed toward housing, social services, and utility infrastructure. For context, on June 19, an additional 18 families consisting of 68 people were relocated to the city of Khankendi as part of these ongoing efforts.
