A new group of families has arrived in the village of Shukurbayli in the Jabrayil district, marking another significant step in the ongoing resettlement process for residents returning to their native lands. The families, who were previously living in temporary housing across various regions of Azerbaijan, have now been provided with the keys to their new homes in the village.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the arrival ceremony was attended by representatives of the Special Representative Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Qubadli, and Zangilan districts, as well as officials from the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons. The State Committee confirmed that this latest phase of the resettlement program involved the relocation of 45 families, totaling 196 individuals, who had been residing in temporary accommodations such as dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings.
The return to Shukurbayli is part of the broader "Great Return" program, a strategic initiative launched by the government of Azerbaijan to rebuild and repopulate the territories liberated from occupation. Following the 2020 Patriotic War, the state has prioritized the restoration of infrastructure, including housing, schools, and essential utilities, to ensure that former internally displaced persons can return to their homes in safety and dignity. This systematic effort aims to revitalize the social and economic life of the Garabagh and East Zangezur economic regions.
