Leaders of several European Union member states have expressed concern that if US President Donald Trump moves to acquire Greenland, other European territories could become subsequent targets.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to The Wall Street Journal, the prospect of such an acquisition has raised alarms within European diplomatic circles. The report indicates that some EU leaders, most of whom are members of NATO, believe that allowing the US to take control of Greenland could establish a dangerous precedent for future claims against other European territories.

According to the WSJ, the current situation poses a potential threat to the integrity of the North Atlantic Alliance and could influence the ongoing geopolitical dynamics surrounding Ukraine. The discussions come amid shifting security priorities in the Arctic region, which has become a focal point of strategic competition between global powers.

It should be noted that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump yesterday. During the call, the parties discussed security issues concerning Greenland and the broader Arctic region. Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, holds significant strategic importance due to its location and vast natural resources, making it a key area for international maritime routes and defense infrastructure.
