Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State summit held in Bishkek.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing information released by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the X social network, the two officials held a comprehensive exchange of views regarding the development of bilateral relations and current regional developments.

During the discussions, Ishaq Dar emphasized the critical importance of diplomacy and open channels of dialogue in ensuring regional peace and stability. The Pakistani minister specifically addressed efforts to de-escalate tensions between the United States and Iran, stating that the sincere implementation of the "Islamabad Agreement" reached between the parties remains the most effective path toward resolving the ongoing crisis.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which hosted the meeting, is a significant Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance. It serves as a vital platform for member states to address regional security challenges, counter-terrorism, and economic cooperation, making it a key venue for high-level diplomatic engagements aimed at mitigating geopolitical tensions in the region.

It should be recalled that the aforementioned agreement is aimed at resolving the conflict that began with military strikes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, and is focused on reducing regional tensions.
