Tensions between the United States and Israel regarding regional security have reportedly intensified amid ongoing diplomatic efforts concerning Iran. According to a report by The New York Times, US officials expressed significant concern in April that Israel might target high-ranking Iranian officials during critical ceasefire negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

The report indicates that Washington specifically warned Israel against potential operations targeting key figures, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The US administration reportedly sought to prevent such actions to avoid jeopardizing the fragile diplomatic process. Concurrently, it is noted that the Iranian side, wary of potential covert Israeli operations ahead of meetings in Islamabad, requested direct security guarantees from the US.

As part of heightened security measures, the Iranian delegation—comprising over 70 officials traveling to Islamabad—was escorted by Pakistani fighter jets. Furthermore, Iranian intelligence services reportedly identified a potential threat to the aircraft carrying Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf during the return journey. Due to these security concerns, the aircraft reportedly made an emergency landing, forcing the delegation to return to Tehran by land.

The Middle East has remained a focal point of global geopolitical attention, with ongoing diplomatic efforts frequently complicated by the complex security dynamics between Israel and Iran. The US has consistently attempted to mediate and manage these tensions to prevent broader regional escalation, particularly during periods of high-stakes diplomatic engagement.
