The United States has announced its intention to establish a constructive dialogue with Iran and pursue new agreements to address regional tensions.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, citing reports from RIA Novosti, confirmed Washington's willingness to utilize current opportunities to initiate negotiations with Tehran and achieve positive outcomes.

Speaking at a meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council, Rubio emphasized that the US is not interested in merely formal arrangements, but rather in a realistic, verifiable, and enforceable agreement. Washington maintains that the effectiveness of any future deal will depend heavily on its practical implementation and the establishment of robust monitoring mechanisms.

This diplomatic overture follows a period of heightened regional instability. Tensions escalated significantly after military strikes on Iranian facilities, which led to disruptions in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and caused sharp fluctuations in global energy prices.

A potential turning point occurred on June 18, when the parties signed a memorandum to cease military operations. Under the terms of this document, the US agreed to lift maritime blockades, while Iran committed to restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and reaffirmed its pledge not to pursue nuclear weapons.

Diplomatic efforts continued on June 21 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, where technical negotiations were held with the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan. US Vice President J.D. Vance and Iranian Foreign Ministry representative Esmail Baghaei confirmed that progress had been made, with both sides agreeing on a roadmap to reach a final settlement within 60 days.

The Gulf Cooperation Council, which hosted the initial discussions, remains a key regional stakeholder in these negotiations, as stability in the Persian Gulf is critical for global energy security and international trade routes.
