Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the successful destruction of 16 targets within Russian territory. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Zelenskyy stated in a social media update that long-range missiles were utilized during the operations.
According to the Ukrainian leader, the primary targets of the strikes were the oil sector and energy infrastructure, which play a critical role in financing Russia's ongoing military campaign. Furthermore, the strikes reportedly neutralized airfields, missile units, and other strategic facilities used in attacks against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy emphasized that these strikes have significantly impacted Russia's logistical and military capabilities. He noted that Ukraine continues to conduct operations against military and strategic objects within Russian territory to increase the cost of the war for Moscow. The Ukrainian President also expressed gratitude to the military personnel involved in the operations and affirmed that measures to strengthen the country's defense capabilities will continue.
The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which escalated significantly in February 2022, has seen both nations increasingly target critical infrastructure. Ukraine's strategy of utilizing long-range capabilities to strike deep within Russian territory is aimed at disrupting supply chains and degrading the operational capacity of Russian forces, while simultaneously pressuring the Kremlin to reconsider its military objectives.
