The leadership of the Ministry of Defense and other high-ranking officials visited the grave of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Victory Park in Baku to mark June 26 - Armed Forces Day and the 108th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Army.
This was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Defense.
It was noted that Defense Minister Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov and the ministry's leadership first laid a wreath at the monument to the National Leader in the Alley of Honor, paying their deep respects to his memory.
The ministry's leadership also visited the grave of the prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, laying fresh roses and honoring her memory.
Subsequently, accompanied by the honor guard, the delegation visited the Victory Park and the Military Memorial Cemetery, where they laid wreaths at the monuments to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The commemoration of Armed Forces Day is a significant annual event in Azerbaijan, reflecting the nation's deep respect for its military history and the modernization of its armed forces. The establishment of the Azerbaijan Army dates back to 1918, during the period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and continues to be a cornerstone of the country's national security and sovereignty.
