XİN: İsrail hökumətinin qondarma "erməni soyqırımı" ilə bağlı qəbul etdiyi qərar ciddi narahatlıq doğurur

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has expressed serious concern regarding the decision adopted by the Israeli government concerning the so-called "Armenian genocide."

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement emphasizing that the distortion of historical truths regarding the events of 1915, and the transformation of complex historical processes into a subject of political decision-making devoid of legal and scientific foundations, is unacceptable.

"Such steps do not serve reconciliation and mutual understanding, but rather deepen existing contradictions and hinder efforts for sustainable peace and stability in the region. We call on the Israeli government to reconsider this decision. Azerbaijan will continue to maintain its consistent position in defense of historical truth, respect for the principles of international law, and the promotion of sustainable peace in the region," the statement read.

The events of 1915, often referred to by historians as the mass deportations and killings of Armenians within the Ottoman Empire, remain a highly sensitive and contentious issue in international diplomacy. Azerbaijan, which maintains close strategic ties with Turkey, consistently advocates for an objective, historical, and scientific approach to these events, arguing that political recognition of the narrative as "genocide" without thorough, impartial investigation undermines historical accuracy and regional peace efforts.
