The 14th session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF14) will be held in Mexico City.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada made the announcement during her speech at the joint opening session of the assemblies within the framework of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13).
"Mexico City possesses an ancient historical heritage. In this sense, our people are a source of beneficial ideas specifically for this topic," the Mayor stated. She emphasized that representatives from more than 100 countries participating in WUF13 are currently discussing issues fundamental to the future of humanity, which will continue to be the focus during the upcoming session in the Mexican capital.
The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations in 2001, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. It examines the most pressing issues facing the world today, including rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change, and policies. The forum serves as a high-level platform for cooperation and the exchange of knowledge between governments, NGOs, and urban experts to implement the New Urban Agenda.
