As of June 1 of this year, Azerbaijan's external public debt amounted to 4 billion 642.4 million US dollars. This data was reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing statistics from the State Statistical Committee.

According to the report, this figure represents an 8 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. In the month of May alone, the country's external public debt declined by 36 million US dollars.

This downward trend continues a broader pattern of fiscal management in Azerbaijan. Last year, the country's external public debt fell by 6.7 percent, dropping to 4 billion 813.5 million US dollars (equivalent to 8 billion 183 million manats). Such reductions are generally viewed by economic analysts as a positive indicator of the country's macroeconomic stability and its ability to manage sovereign obligations effectively without relying heavily on external borrowing.
