US Vice President JD Vance is planning an official visit to Azerbaijan and Armenia following the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The high-level delegation aims to strengthen regional ties and discuss strategic cooperation in the South Caucasus.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from the Associated Press (AP), the US delegation is scheduled to be in Italy from February 4 to 7. The US Department of State confirmed that the delegation, which includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, will participate in several high-level meetings during their European tour before proceeding to the region.
The 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony is set for February 6 in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. Following the ceremony, the Vice President is expected to travel to Baku and Yerevan. This visit underscores the continued engagement of the administration of US President Donald Trump in the South Caucasus, focusing on regional stability, energy security, and the advancement of peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
